Wait, GPFirst!: Visit Your Neighbourhood GPs First for Common Conditions

What is GPFirst?

The GPFirst programme encourages people with mild to moderate medical conditions to visit their General Practitioners (GPs) first, rather than going directly to the Emergency Department (ED).

Going to the GP first allows you to receive timely medical treatment for your condition, and enables EDs to focus on more urgent cases requiring medical attention.

How does GPFirst work?

If you visit Intemedical for a checkup and are referred to the emergency department (ED) via the GPFirst Programme upon assessment of your condition, you will receive a $50 subsidy on the prevailing ED attendance fee of the hospital that you are referred to.*

When should I visit Intemedical instead of an ED?

You should visit Intemedical if you are experiencing:

  • Abdominal Pain or Indigestion

  • Cold and Flu

  • Cuts & Open Wounds

  • Fever

  • Headaches

  • Hives

  • Bruises

  • Cellulitis

  • Insect Bites & Stings

  • Mild Burns & Scalds

  • Diarrhoea & Vomiting

  • Nosebleeds

  • Sore Eyes

  • Strains & Sprains

  • Hypertension

Based on the assessment by Intemedical, you will be referred to an acute hospital or Urgent Care Centre in your region. The participating EDs and Urgent Care Centers (UCCs) are as follows:

  • Changi General Hospital (CGH)

  • Khoo Teck Puat Hospital (KTPH)

  • National University Hospital (NUH) – Adult ED only

  • Ng Teng Fong General Hospital (NTFGH)

  • Sengkang General Hospital (SKH)

  • Singapore General Hospital (SGH)

  • Tan Tock Seng Hospital (TTSH)

  • Alexandra Urgent Care Centre (AH UCC)

  • Urgent Care Centre (UCC) @ Admiralty

Go to the hospital emergency department only for emergencies that could result in serious complications or death, e.g. strokes, heart attacks, serious injuries.

* Terms and Conditions Apply. Receiving Emergency Departments will determine if the subsidy is applicable.

Went to Blk 419 Yishun branch on 5 oct evening. Double check with Clinic Assistant at the counter on Chas card acceptance, she just says NO then look down. I then said to her that the clinic is listed on Chas Card official website. She then replied " our system is not updated" look down again.

I didn't understand what she was saying, so I asked again and she repeated the same. I have to ask a third time, "what do you mean by that?" She then explained "we are listed but our system is not updated" then look down again, throughout the conversation, she failed to show any facial expression at all.

What type of answer is that? What…
